When you read the title, what meaning did you assign to the acronym USP? Did you in your mind, by any chance, think it might mean ‘Unique Selling Proposition?’
Now, after my first para did you doubt your original meaning? Are you now thinking there is another meaning? What could it be? Is this writer tricking me? Did it cause a little bit of annoyance?
Well, that is how our mind works. Let me explain.
If what I described above is how you experienced it, may not be exactly the same but somewhat like that with a degree of variation in it, you are not alone. You must have heard this popular statement our mind is a meaning-making machine. While that is certainly my experience too, but so what?
For us to be able to leverage the power of our mind, it is important to understand how it works.
So, if you want to get a deeper insight into the working of our mind, it is noteworthy besides giving meaning, the mind is quite eager to give meaning to what we see, feel, think, or experience.
One of the reasons it does so is to be in the know, to be sure, to be certain. Knowing gives a sense of certainty, security, and safety. On the other hand, not knowing or uncertainty triggers anxiety, worry, or fear depending on what you are experiencing. Remember we have a primal brain.
In the absence of any new knowledge of what is USP, the mind quickly, without waiting to read further, dug deep into the database of our memories and found a meaning that fits. Mind is quite eager to assume based on memories based on own or other known previous experiences. Except for those who are mindful, many of us still find our minds assuming in the absence of information.
This is how our subconscious mind works. You may be able to recall many such instances in your experiences. Stand-up comedians use this awareness and create laughable moments by making us assume something and suddenly disclose a completely different perspective or meaning.
This is a pattern of how our subconscious mind works. & not all the patterns are helpful and useful. Because in its attempt to protect us, our brain at times stops us from exploring anything new and projects perceived fears of failure, fear of rejection, fear of success, etc. The fears that our mind projects are the biggest reasons why most of us hold ourselves back from doing what our conscious minds intend to do.
I call these patterns Unresourceful because they are not helping us. That is why I say, ‘DO NOT rely on our Unresourceful Subconscious Pattern’. They do not always work favorably if you want to embrace challenges, explore new stuff, and grow and experience the life you want.
Recognize the unresourceful patterns of your subconscious mind and increase your awareness & growth.
